People are always looking for interesting content to read. If your audience is decreasing, it could be because your content is becoming boring, which is a very common occurrence. When we continue to write the same type of content, the writing becomes stale, and we must change some things to keep it fresh and alive.
Remember that the audience will spend their time reading if they enjoy it. So, let’s break the ice and create some interesting content that will draw more readers to your blog.
REMEMBER NOT TO BE TOO SHORT.
The length of the content should be appropriate; if a lengthy article appears unappealing, so do too-short articles. The article should not be so brief that it overlooks an important aspect of the content’s concept.
When an article is too short, it appears that you have only provided the outline and not the entire idea. The problem with a short article is that it takes time to pique the readers’ interest, and as soon as they do, the article is over.
INCLUDE THEM IN A STORY.
Telling a story can be advantageous to you because people are naturally drawn to stories. It is a scientific fact that when you read a story, your brain becomes instantly activated. Stories also stimulate the motor cortex of the brain, which controls muscular movement. When we hear a story, our brains engage in neural coupling, which allows us to think about the subsequent ideas written in the story.
When we read the emotional points in a story or the points that excite us, the brain releases dopamine, which is referred to as a “happy chemical”.
So, based on the information presented above, we can conclude that telling a story is the best way to engage more and more people with your blog.
For example, if you are writing a blog for packers and movers, you must create a story rather than simply writing content. This will pique your audience’s interest in your brand’s services.
WRITING IN THE PRIMARY PERSON
Writing in the first person is the most appealing and natural way to write. In our routine, we always speak in the first person. We do not use pronouns for ourselves when we speak because they appear to be made up.
So you don’t have to be afraid to write in your native language. People will believe you are speaking about real-life experiences, and they will want to read more. When you keep referring to the third person or using the term “the author,” the content becomes dry.
TRANSITION
Transitioning means indicating when there will be a change in the direction of your writing. It is very common for a writer to switch topics while writing, but the audience is unprepared for this and loses track of what they are reading and fails to adjust to the transition.
Transition can keep the article from falling off the page. You can easily create a transition by displaying visual cues such as writing big headlines, sub-headings, or numbering lists. For the best transition display, you can also use some header tags. It also helps to emphasize any new points you are about to make. It requires you to be mindful while writing the article.
The audience will be bored by the plain text as well, but the transition headings and tags will keep them engaged and interested in further reading.
FORESHADOW
Foreshadowing means reflecting the idea of the post in a way that does not reveal the entire plot. It only tells the necessary parts of the story, which keeps readers engaged and makes them want to read more. It’s a set-up for the reader to get a sense of what they’re going to read next.
Foreshadowing helps to increase the readers’ curiosity while also keeping their anticipation high. You can add foreshadowing to your article by writing a brief preview of it. It essentially entails communicating the introduction and conclusion of the article so that people have an idea of what they will receive at the end of the article.
When you write a foreshadowing of the article at the beginning, it will be less boring. Readers who want to read the outcome will be more interested if they first know what the blog contains.
BE SPECIFIC
The writer’s priority should be clarity. The audience always prefers content that is simple to read and understand over content that is complex. When we use complex vocabulary and active verbs to make our content more interesting, we sometimes end up making it difficult to understand.
Some words that appear good are not easily understood by everyone, and people will stop reading the content if they believe it is difficult to understand.
WHEN ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, STOP WRITING.
Without a doubt, word count is important when writing content, but don’t get too caught up in it. Writers who are paid by the word count are frequently concerned about the word count, but why should any other writer be concerned about the word count?
The one thing you should be concerned about is the content’s concept and how useful it will be to the readers. Readers would not be concerned with the word count; they would read it if it was of any use to them. The rest of it won’t matter to them.
As a result, there is no need to keep the articles lengthy for no reason. Keep it short, clear, and precise to avoid boredom from repetition of the content.
LENGTH OF SENTENCE
The sentence length should be appropriate. Some people write sentences that never end, causing readers to lose track of the sentence and the idea. Short sentences are more effective at capturing attention and making people understand. However, it should not be so short that it only covers half of the information.
Conjectures can be used to connect two sentences that are in continuation. Short sentences are more effective at keeping readers interested.
So, when you start writing the next article, just be yourself and follow the tips mentioned above.
